Channel Overview: Channel 62 UHF

This channel will be ... different from the other channels.

To quote the Wikipedia page:
In the United States, the UHF stations gained a reputation for being locally owned, less polished and professional, not as popular, and having weaker signal propagation than their VHF channel counterparts
UHF is where - historically, we had the late-night creature features and the Horror Host phenomenon.

While not quite Public Access, the line occasionally blurred on UHF stations.

The whole phenomenon of UHF was parodied in Weird Al's film UHF.

This channel will not have a single set mod - anyone who wants to group-watch a film can post an air date and links to where it can be found online.  We'd prefer films which are on Netflix or are free via Amazon Prime, but that's not a requirement.  We'd also prefer that there not be more than one UHF program per week.

Films chosen for this show should be unique and (ideally) cheesy in some way.  These can be low-budget cheese-fests like Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, or it can be a cult classic like Repo Man or Highlander.  The original Clash of the Titans and - indeed - most of the old Harryhausen films work, here.  As will Conan, or Red Sonja or The Crow.  It doesn't necessarily need to have been a flop, either.  Flight of the Navigator, or The Last Starfighter are both perfectly acceptable films for this station.

These should be films which can be described as fun. But these films shouldn't be good or deep or meaningful.

Welcome!

Welcome to ReWatchers, the companion blog to the Google+ community of the same name.

At the moment, there's not much to be seen either here or in the community - but we hope that will change soon.

To the right, you will see some important links - the community FAQ, the current channel listings, and so on. At the moment, they're pretty sparse. Content will come with time.

Ever notice how the internet buzzes every time a new episode of that Hot Current Show comes out?  Don't you wish Your Favorite Show had that buzz, even though it's been off the air since before the Internet was A Thing?

Interestingly reruns have a magic all their own, because we catch things we didn't see the first time around. Details pop out at us that might be important later.

Through the magic of Netflix and Amazon Instant Video and Hulu, we can create our own buzz.

Here's how it works:

Channel Moderators will pick a show and set a schedule.  You are free to watch collectively via Hangout, or quietly on your own.  After the show "airs," the Channel Mod will put up a post with a recap, and that post then becomes the place to discuss that episode.  Please no spoilers for future episodes until after they, too, have "aired."  But do feel free to highlight fresh details that could theoretically become important later ...

For now, there won't be a ton of activity on this blog - maybe an occasional post to let you know the channel listings have been updated or to highlight especially good conversation.
